This non-profit organization is designed to help Washoe County, Nevada’s law enforcement dogs that serve and protect our communities with equipment, training, and medical needs. Barks and Badges will be a day filled with fun and games for the whole family! From 10:00am – 3:00pm, meet the K-9’s and see them show off their skills! Food trucks, vendors and loads of kid’s games and activities will add to the fun! Please leave your pets at home. A $5 donation per car is appreciated. Nevada Day commemorates the state’s October 31, 1864 admission to the Union. The first known observance of Nevada Day (originally known as Admission Day) was by the Pacific Coast Pioneer society during the 1870s. In 1933, The Nevada Legislature established it as a state holiday closing all state, county and city government offices, along with most schools and libraries. Although Nevada Day is now observed on the last Friday in October, the Nevada Day Parade is on Saturday, October 26th. This year’s theme is Nevada Counties – 100 Years. Pershing County became Nevada’s 17th and final county in 1919, hence the 100 years. This year’s parade will pay tribute to all 17 counties.
